This year, Flamingo partners with the Elite Rebels Biker Club and RunWalk for Life to collect winter clothing, blankets and non perishable foods for The Hospice Association of Kimberley.

The 2015 Winter Knights takes place on Saturday, 18 July 2015 – coinciding with the late former president, Nelson Mandela’s birthday. Representatives of Flamingo Casino and members of the bikers’ club will assemble at the casino from 11h00 where the handover of the donations will take place.

Runners and walkers entering the RunWalk for Life 777 Race will be asked to donate a non perishable food item to Flamingo Casino’s 2015 Winter Knights project. People can register late entries for the race at 05h30 on the day. Races will commence at 07h14.

“The Hospice Association of Kimberley provides an invaluable service to our community, caring for people with terminal diseases and ensuring that they are treated with dignity and respect in their final days. A non-profit organization, it depends heavily on donations and support from companies and individuals to keep operating. We hope to ease the burden on the organization this winter.

“We urge our community to support our 2015 Winter Knights project in aid of The Hospice Association of Kimberley and have some wonderful family-styled fun. Runners and walkers can enjoy some healthy outdoor activity and make a contribution to the cause as well. Your support will be enormously appreciated,” says Lameez Suliman, the PR and Promotions Manager at Flamingo Casino.

According to Suliman, RunWalk for Life will also be staging a potjiekos competition on race day. Companies can enter teams of four to show off their potjiekos-making prowess. Potjies will be judged and the winners stand a chance to win fabulous prizes. The potjiekos will be on sale for R25 per portion and the funds raised will go towards the Hospice Association of Kimberley. The potjiekos competition will kick off at 09h00.
