Date: Saturday, 1 May 2021
Time: 07:00
Venue: Starting from Horseshoe Inn
WHAT IS IT: It is a bike ride that takes place over ± 2 200 km from Beit Bridge to Table Mountain, Cape Town. And the distance is covered in less than Twelve (12) hours. Is that possible?
HOW IS THIS DONE? The route extends across the length of the country and passes through 22 towns/cities. There are thus 22 shifts. Each town has an own group of cyclists who ride only from their town/city to the next town. So when cyclists start at Beit Bridge, everyone starts at their town to tackle their shift. That way, the whole distance is taken down in a “japtrap”.
It’s not a race. Anyone can participate regardless of age, gender, fit or not as fit. Everyone who participates is driving as far as he/she can or will. Importantly. There will be a “braai” afterwards at Orange Rust. Bring own cutlery and drinks. Headaches won’t get you because it’s a cheerful bunch of people. You have to take care of yourself for food and drinks along the way. There will be support on the route, feel free to put you nutrition on the vehicles. If you do want to make use of your own support, you are more than welcome. Transport back from Hopetown you have to reel yourself unfortunately.
Should anyone wish to participate or for more information, you can visit and register at www.oryxendurance.co.za on or before 26 April 2021. Let’s see that we can ride all who have a bike that day, even if you only ride 10km.
