  • KDC Rider Cup Team Skateboarding Championships 2015

Rider Cup Team Skateboarding Championships put teams of five skaters against each other in a head-to-head, tournament-style contest. Teams represent their neighborhood, skate shop, city, state, province, or country in a unique skateboarding competition format that eliminates the pressure of individual and allows a more relaxed type of competition.

The Rider Cup format has been successful in South Africa in conjunction with the KDC Grand Slam and Kimberley Diamond Cup events, and last summer the first USA version took place in New York City. New York’s five boroughs were represented by teams competing first in a local qualifier, followed by a NYC Finals, where the winning team won a trip to South Africa to compete in the Rider Cup Championships at the Kimberley Diamond Cup last October.

With sizable purses, a great format, and a sense of camaraderie that is natural to street sessions but often missing in traditional contests, Rider Cup just may be the skateboarding event of the future.

    Prize Purse
    1st – R25000
    2nd – R10000
    3rd – R 5000
