    ENGEN Pitch & Polish Competition @ Kimberley City Hall
     
    ENGEN Pitch & Polish is a national workshop and competition programme where you get to spend the day in a fun-filled learning environment getting expert guidance on how to pitch your business your idea effectively.

    NOTE: If selected as a contestant then you are required to be part of the full day workshop. If you are not selected, then we encourage you to still attend the workshop.
     
    By entering you will:
    • Receive real value and benefits relevant to your business
    • Gain exposure to and learn from internationally accredited entrepreneurial thinkers
     
    How it works:
    • A team of experts will evaluate all entry forms received and will select five contestants for each town
    • Successful entrants will then be notified and briefed
    • A full briefing session will take place prior to the actual competition
    • If selected, you will be given the opportunity to pitch your business idea to the workshop attendees, who must decide whether or not they would invest in you as an entrepreneur
    • A facilitator will give you all the tips you need to polish your pitch
    • The day ends with the actual competition being held in front of the workshop audience, as well as a panel of expert judges
    • One contestant will be selected, from each town, to move on to the second round, and from there they could potentially move on to the semi-final and then final
    • Each round has prize money available for the successful contestants
     
    Competition Terms & Conditions:
    • Only successful participants will be contacted. If you are not contacted then please assume that you have not been successful.
     
    • All decisions made by the appointed judges concerning the selection process related to the competition are final and binding on all participants and no reasons will be given for such decisions. The participant agrees not to challenge or appeal against such decisions.
     
    • By entering this competition the applicant understands that his/her business ideas will be exposed to the judges, audience and media.
     
    • To enter this competition you must be 18 years or older and be in possession of a valid South African identity document.
     
    • By entering the competition the applicant agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as may be required.
     
    • Incorrectly completed or incomplete entries will be disqualified.
     
    • Participants acknowledge that, by entering the competition, the terms and conditions contained herein, are accepted by such participant.
     
    • Any prize money won during the competition will be paid into the bank account of the contestant. Cash will not be provided in lieu of transfer.
     
    • The promoter, its associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors shall not be liable for any costs of whatsoever nature incurred by the participant for any reason whatsoever.
     
    • Entry is open to anyone except employees (and their immediate families) of the promoter, its associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors involved in the competition.
     
    • The promoter reserves the right to replace the prize(s) with (an)other prize(s) of similar commercial value.
     
    • The promoter, its associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss, injury or damage arising from any entrant’s participation in the competition, nor for the prize winners in their fulfilment of the prize, howsoever arising.
     
    • Should you be entering the competition with a business idea then the following documentation will be required, should you be selected:

    Proof of registration and ownership of the business
     
    • Should your entry be successful and should you compete and then be selected to proceed to the next rounds you hereby confirm that you will be available for travel on the following dates:
    24, 25, 26, 27 & 28 October 2016
    9, 10 & 11 November 2016
    Should your entry be successful and should you compete and then be selected to proceed to the next rounds, it is hereby stated that, should you miss any flights that are arranged for you that this is then automatic disqualification from the competition. You may not make alternative travel arrangements.
     
    • Photographs and video will be taken at the event. By taking part in the event you grant the event organisers full rights to use the images resulting from the photography / video filming. These photos / video will be used in (but not limited to) printed and online publicity, social media, press releases and funding proposals.
     
    • The video footage taken at this event will be used to create an episode of what will be a 10 episode series to be broadcast on BDTV. By taking part in this event you grant the event organisers full rights to use the images resulting from this videography.
     
    PLEASE NOTE: If you have competed as a contestant in Pitch & Polish before, then you will unfortunately not be allowed to compete again.
