Emerging music talent called to enter Flamingo’s Battle of the Bands

Emerging entertainers are called to enter Flamingo Casino’s Battle of the Bands competition which provides a platform for local talent to be discovered, showcased and rewarded. The competition runs throughout October and November. Music outfits can enter one of the “battles” taking place at Bar 129 on 4, 10 and 24 October and 1, 08 and 22 November, from 21h00 onwards.

Performances will be evaluated by the crowd who will vote for their favourite band on the night. The finals will take place on 19 December 2014 when the three top bands will be chosen. They will each win cash, with a first place prize of R10 000, a second place prize of R5 000, and a third prize of R3 000.

The top three bands will also receive a six month entertainment contract valued at R30 000 to perform at the casino’s Bar 129 venue.

Bands have until 30 September to register for the Battle of the Bands. To register, bands must contact Charene Azevedo at the casino. There is no cost to enter the competition. Entrants will be given a date for their performance and will be required to perform a song on stage before a live audience.

“Flamingo Casino is searching for new talent. If your band has what it takes to rock Bar 129,  then be sure to enter our Battle of the Bands.

“We are thrilled to provide local emerging entertainers with a platform to showcase their talent in our Battle of the Bands. Our previous talent competitions have been immensely exciting and proved that there is some exceptional talent in our local communities just waiting to be discovered. Through this competition, we hope to inspire those who want to pursue a music career to follow their dreams

“For all contestants, it is a great opportunity to show-off what they can do, and assess themselves against other bands. Of course, for the ultimate winners, a six month entertainment contract at Bar 129 is fantastic exposure,” says Lameez Suliman, the Promotions Manager at Flamingo Casino.

The competition is open to all emerging bands, regardless of their music speciality. Professional bands – those already deriving an income from performing – are not permitted to enter the competition.

Previous winners of Flamingo Casino’s Battle of the Bands include (Timothy King, Eulalia Crisp & SMS).
